Our Board of Trustees at the Ghani Foundation is the highest governing body, responsible for overseeing global operations and setting strategy. The Board comprises five members, each bringing a diverse set of skills and experience to the Board, while also representing partner offices worldwide.
The Board of Trustees is an elected body, with each trustee's term lasting four years. The Board is diverse and made up of five trustees representing countries worldwide. Each trustee is a volunteer who brings different skills, knowledge, and experience that together will help the Foundation to develop and respond to key challenges.
Key responsibilities of the Board of Trustees:
To oversee the organisation in accordance with its statutory obligations, making sure that we satisfy our regulatory requirements as a Foundation.
To act in a manner that supports the Foundation in meeting aims and objectives as set out in our governing documents, and in ensuring our long-term security.
To focus on strategic planning and governance when setting our priorities and objectives.
To evaluate performance and progress, and approve relevant new policies and procedures.
To appraise the executive management team and be involved in making appointments to and dismissals from this team.
Arfan Ghani, PhD, FIET, CEng, is a Professor of Healthcare Engineering and Founder of the Ghani Foundation. He specialises in AI-driven healthcare technologies, neuromorphic engineering, and hardware accelerators, with over 18 years of experience in academic and industrial research. His work focuses on developing affordable, intelligent diagnostic systems for underserved communities worldwide.
