Open Silicon Academy
Building semiconductor skills through open-source chip design
Building semiconductor skills through open-source chip design
Semiconductor technology is increasingly important to AI, healthcare and modern infrastructure, yet many universities and students lack access to practical chip-design education and tools.
The Ghani Foundation Open Silicon Academy aims to bridge this gap by providing free courses, lecture materials, practical labs and open-source EDA tools in chip design, RISC-V and AI hardware.
Universities, engineering schools and research institutions, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa and other resource-constrained regions are invited to participate in the Open Silicon Academy.
The Academy provides free educational resources, practical labs and open-source tools that universities can use for courses, student projects and research, helping expand access to semiconductor and AI-hardware skills where access to industry tools and training is limited.
